Blur | 13 "Pinkerton" is Weezer's second full length recording and a good one it is too. Going back to their more Grunge roots with a fast , raw more "alternative" album. Described by Rivers Cuomo as what they sounded like prior to their self titled debut album, and the "real Weezer". If "Pinkerton" is the real Weezer , you may be wondering why it did not sell anything near to the ammount that their first release accomplished . This is because the band decided not to make high budget videos (such as the band with, the help of some damn fine computer technology to perform the hit single "Buddy Holly" in Al's dinner of the legendary tv sitcom "Happy Days" ) as it was said by many critics that the only reason for their succses was their constant airing of their videos on MTV. They did indeed silence the critics . "Pinkerton" , did not manage to sell more than the self titled, It did however manage to get platinum status without the help of MTV, letting the music talk for it self with 10 outstanding songs. Every track on the album is written by Rivers and tells the story of his life since the self titled release . Heres a Breif description of the tracks on this LP. 1. Tired Of Sex Good intro to the album... starts with some mean feedback from a guitar, as kind of a statement that the album is more Rugged and aggresive. The title says it all... about Rivers being tired about the rock and Roll life style when he went back to school after they finished touring for the self titled album. 2. Getchoo This song is about the end of a relationship I think, quite a rocky song with a screaming chorus of GETCHOOOOOOOOOOOOO! 3. No Other One This song is about having something you dont perticular like, but it will have to do because your scared of life without it and have got used to it. This song is particularly about a relationship. 4. Why Bother? This is about your mind telling you no but some part of you saying yes - being tempted to stuff etc. This is probably my favorite song on the album (probably ???) 5. Across The Sea Is about being in love with someone who lives miles away. The song is about a girl who lives in Japan ( their is a strong Japanese theme throughout this album). 6. The Good Life - Single was written when Cuomo was at school and was tired of the sensible school life and wanted to become a rock star again. 7. El Scorcho - Single Kind of a confusing song, about half Japenese girls and dancing in the street! 8. Pink Triangle About falling in love with a Lesbian!!! "Im dumb she's a lesbian" - its about a girl Rivers met while at school who he liked really much and then found out she was a Lesbian. 9. Falling For You It's another song about one of his relationships, its about going out with someone that you like but hate apects of her/him. 10. Butterfly I have no idea what this song is about, its a melow acoustic song, a good ending to a fast album.
